Certifications
They’re only pieces of paper, but the certificates you earn during COLT are your ticket to future employment and a plaque to all your hard work. You have the chance to earn eight certifications, including an overall COLT diploma.
That’s more than most two year college programs. These are the pieces of paper future employers are looking for. And the evaluation and reference letter written by the COLT Director at the end of the semester, is a door opener for any kind of job, future training or career.

COLT Certificate
The Recreational Canoeing Association of BC – Lake Water Instructor – Tandem Moving Water Paddler Level – Solo Moving Water Paddler Level
Industry Canada – Restricted Marine Radio Operator License
Association of Canadian Sea Kayak Guides – Assistant Guide Certification
Advanced Backcountry First Aid, 80 hours
In addition, COLT graduates are trained and eligible to receive accreditation from Pacific Rim National Park to work as a hiking guide on the West Coast Trail. This accreditation is not valid for other National Parks, but is unique as PRNP only recognizes COLT and a few other training organizations to accredit hiking guides on the West Coast Trail.
